Going into 2009 just reminds me of how I spent my last New Year. I was kept rather busy, not by the celebrations or gatherings but because M was down with bronchitis. It was her first major illness and we have since grown more paranoid of every sneeze or cough we hear.
Well, it was essentially a cold turned bad. It must have started when we did not cover her well on an evening night out. The wind was rather chilly and she caught a cold, starting with a sneeze the following day. Soon, it got worse with coughing and vomiting; and finally fever. The medicine from our GP did not seem to work so we brought her to see her paediatrician.
Just when we thought she was getting better, my husband noticed M was wheezing. We brought her back to the pd and he confirmed she had water in her lungs or bronchitis. We were worried sick. She cried so much when the nurse at the clinic showed me how to administer the medication through a nebulizer.
As a result, M watched a lot of TV during that period because that was the only way to keep her from pulling the mask off. Luckily, she did get better pretty soon. And we can never be happier that history did not repeat itself this year.
